I read an article the other day that stated, “77% of Americans are anxious about their financial situation.” Here are my TOP FIVE ways to reduce financial stress ASAP.

ONE—Create a Plan

Creating a budget tells your money where it will go instead of the other way around. Most budgets don’t reduce stress because they are actionless. So, I recommend breaking down your budget into weekly amounts—how much do you earn each week? How much is your rent when broken down weekly? And your utilities broken down weekly? Once you’ve created a weekly budget, you should better understand where your money is going and what you can do about it.

TWO—Reduce Debt

High levels of debt can be a significant source of financial stress. Paying off outstanding loans, credit card balances, and other debts should be a top priority. To tackle your debt effectively, identify excess funds from your budget and start paying down your debts with all your extra. If you don’t have extra money, sell stuff, get another job, or reduce expenses to begin making headway. 

THREE—Build an Emergency Fund

An emergency fund is a financial safety net, helping you stay prepared for unexpected expenses like medical bills, car repairs, or job loss. Save $1,000 ASAP, and then aim to save six months’ worth of living expenses in your emergency fund. An emergency fund will reduce the fear of unforeseen financial crises.

FOUR—Increase Financial Literacy

Being financially literate means understanding personal finance, budgeting, investing, and managing money wisely. Invest time in improving your financial knowledge by reading books, taking online courses, or seeking advice from financial professionals. The more you know about managing your finances, the better equipped you’ll be to make informed decisions and reduce financial stress.
